DECLARATION
FOR A
CENTURY CEASE-FIRE™

11/11/2011 to 11/11/2111

WE, THE CITIZENS OF THE WORLD, hereby declare our purpose and resolve to educate and advocate for the creation of the necessary pre-conditions to establish, maintain, and enforce:

A CENTURY CEASE-FIRE™
beginning on the 11th day of the 11th month of the 11th year of this Century and continuing until
the 11th day of the 11th month of the 11th year next Century.

IN SUPPORT OF THE FOREGOING DECLARATION, we hold these truths to be self-evident and universal:

1. No child will be born anywhere in the World on or after 11/11/11 this Century with an innate instinct of hatred or desire to kill any other human being.

2. If any child develops a willingness to kill another human being, that willingness has a cultural basis resulting from:

(a) the direct and indirect teaching of hatred, intolerance, disrespect, and misunderstanding by parents or other adults who directly influence that child’s development; and/or
(b) that child’s witnessing or experiencing violence, which inflicts permanent and/or emotional scars for the remainder of that child’s life.

3. The perpetuation of hatred and violence can poison subsequent generations of children, depriving them of any reasonable prospect for non-violent co-existence with others, regardless of their race, religion, ethnicity, culture, national origin, or any other distinguishing characteristic.

4. The hope for the civilized World, however, lies in another universal truth. The overwhelming majority of the parents of every child born on or after 11/11/11 this Century will share a similar dream for their children to have the opportunity to enjoy a non-violent, productive, and fulfilling life.

5. This common dream is achievable, if we unite in our resolve to teach and practice the five essential ingredients to non-violent co-existence; namely, mutual:

Tolerance,
Respect,
Understanding,
Trustworthiness, and
Humility.

IN ADVOCATING FOR THIS DECLARATION, we must nevertheless recognize the following harsh realities and challenges:

1. There are those today who would be threatened by any genuine prospect for non-violent co-existence, because their power and relevance derive directly from the perpetuation of violence and hostilities among adversaries.

2. We must, therefore, recognize the need to deter these violent actors, and be willing to take immediate action to impose appropriate consequences on those who violate the five essential ingredients to non-violent co-existence.

IN IMPLEMENTING A CENTURY CEASE-FIRE™, although each conflict around the World has its unique history and its unique set of obstacles that must first be addressed to establish the pre-conditions for a Century Cease-Fire™, we recommend our World leaders consider the following universally applicable strategies to sustain a Century Cease-Fire™:

1. A CENTURY OF NON-PROLIFERATION of any new biological, chemical, or nuclear weapons of mass destruction that could create the threat of indiscriminate injury or death to any child anywhere in the World.

2. A CENTURY OF INTERIM NON-VIOLENT PROTOCOLS as a dispute-resolution process among nations-states, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), ethnicities, and cultures during this Century Cease-Fire™.

3. A CENTURY OF UNEQUIVOCAL AND UNWAVERING COMMITMENT BY THE INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY TO IMPOSE IMMEDIATE AND APPROPRIATE CONSEQUENCES on any violators of the Century Cease-Fire™, the Century of Nuclear Non-Proliferation, or the Century of Interim Non-Violent Protocols for Conflict Resolutions.

4. A CENTURY OF SCHEDULED INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCES to confront the causes of conflicts, to build trust among historic adversaries, and to create permanent non-violent conflict resolution protocols.

AS THE EXPRESSION OF OUR WORLD-WIDE SUPPORT FOR A CENTURY CEASE-FIRE™, we, the undersigned --- representing all of our nation-states, races, religions, ethnicities, and cultures across the globe --- affix our signatures to this Declaration, manually or electronically; and by so doing, we commit ourselves to help educate others and advocate for the establishment of the necessary pre-conditions to sustain a Century Cease-Fire™.
