WHAT MAKES THE CENTURY CEASE-FIRE™ IMPERATIVE UNIQUE?

 The Century Cease-Fire™ Imperative is a unique “recipe” of strategies that help sustain our co-existence, consisting of the following ingredients:

1.    It seeks the modest (but more realistic) first-step goal of a cease-fire, rather than rushing to the ultimate (but a more unrealistic) goal of immediate “peace.”  
 
2.    It sets a unique timeframe for these cease-fires; namely, a Century.  This is not to say every conflict will take a Century to resolve; but the most intractable ones may well require that time for the intense hate, intolerance, and  mistrust to literally die out.

3.    It seeks to change the paradigm for addressing conflicts away from a focus on present grievances based on historical acts, to a focus on the innocent children who have yet to be born --- specifically (and symbolically) on the children to be born on 11/11/11 of this Century --- and what we are doing to prevent the poisoning effect of hate and intolerance caused by adult influences.

4.    It identifies the essential ingredients necessary for non-violent co-existence among traditional adversaries, while recognizing today’s harsh realities that may justify the judicious use of force.  The Century Cease-Fire™ Imperative thus hypothesizes that a unique mixture of 6 ingredients may make for the most effective “carrot-and-stick” (or “good cop/bad cop”) approach to international relations, which could be summarized in short-hand as the “T.R.U.T.H. or Consequences™” doctrine of international relations --- where the acronym “T.R.U.T.H.” represents the values of mutual Tolerance, Respect, Understanding, Trustworthiness, and Humility; but coupled with an unequivocal resolve to use force, when necessary and appropriate, to deter and impose “consequences” on those individuals or organizations who are determined to commit heinous acts of violence against innocent children and civilians.

5.    By being a non-partisan, student-based, world-wide grassroots movement, World leaders would be afforded the “political cover” necessary to have the courage to seek the pre-conditions requisite to sustain a Century Cease-Fire™.  World leaders would thus not need to take ownership of a plan that may have risks of failure; but merely justify their use of this potential international relations tool as simply responding to the “will of the people,” who are calling for the Century Cease-Fire™ strategies to be implemented.  Thus, no World leader needs to fear losing credibility if, for any reason, attempts at a Century Cease-Fire™ fail, as it was not a strategy initiated by the World leaders.

 

The 11 unique “ingredients” in “recipe” of strategies that makes the Century Cease-Fire™ distinguishable.

  1.  The CCF is a student-powered, world-wide call to action.
  2. The CCF is non-partisan, with appeal across the entire spectrum of ideologies.
  3. The CCF sets a more realistic and achievable goal of a “cease-fire.”
  4. The CCF sets a more realistic timeline for resolution of the most intransigent conflicts --- a “Century.”
  5. The CCF changes the debate over existing grievances based on historical conflicts to a focus on the future conditions we will bequeath to, and will be inherited by, the future innocent children yet-to-be-born into this World.
  6. The CCF seeks to break the vicious cycle of recruiting innocent children to be the next generation to perpetuate hate, intolerance, and commit senseless acts of violence.
  7. The CCF nevertheless acknowledges the harsh realities of today --- that there are individuals and groups determined to promote hate and intolerance, and to commit heinous acts of violence.
  8. The CCF realistically acknowledges both: (a) the limitations of force as a means to resolve conflicts, and (b) the need for limited and judicious use of force to deter and impose consequences on those who would seek to breach a Century Cease-Fire™.
  9. But the CCF also acknowledges the great hope for humanity --- namely, the realization that the overwhelming majority of citizens wishes for their children to grow and prosper in a safe, secure, and non-violent environment, rather than suffer in a World filled with the constant threat of deadly violence.
  10. The CCF manifests this “will of the Citizens of the World” through a single international document --- a Petition for a Century Cease-Fire™.
  11. Through this single international expression of unity we, the citizens of the World, grant to our World leaders the “political cover” they need to have the courage to create the conditions necessary to sustain our non-violent co-existence.
